Happy fishemen...

Well, some days things don't go as expected.  I was planning on practicing photographing eagles fishing, and while there were a few eagles around the day went to the ospreys.  Somewhere upwards of 20 were fishing on and off in waves of activity.  Nice happy classic carrying shot...

Quite good little fishermen, it's mesmerizing to watch them stalk out the perfect fish - as always I wished they were closer.  At least one decided to come back closer to the trees over my head... (starting to get hazy out - light bounced up off the rocks on the shore of the river).

But my favorites of the day came from flight through little bits of light between clouds...

Sometimes edged light becomes more important than focus (but it would have been better if I could have pulled off both)...

and of course when I get both I would rather have more reach...  Oh well... always something to learn.

To sleep forever well...

Sometimes one comes across a small thing - just different enough to draw attention - and for a moment it changes one's perspective...

Coming back from hiking, tired and sweaty I caught a glimpse of a moth deep in the high grass - thinking it was trapped I decided to free it - hoping it would fly away... but it was too late, the ants had already begun to consume it.

But only a few feet...  Raised on wingtips over solid ground the ants were unaware.

To sleep forever well...
